Annual Dinner
Task:
As a Communications Intern, I was in charge of producing all graphic materials for the Chamber. In Fall 2019, I was tasked with creating the branding and materials for the San Luis Obispo Chamber’s 115th Annual Dinner, which honored the outgoing Board Chair Clint Pearce. Clint is an avid western horseback rider, coach, and owns the unique and kitschy Madonna Inn in SLO with his wife Connie.
Concept:
All design aspects, from invitations to decor, were an ode to his passion for western horseback riding, with an added level of sophistication for the black tie event. After creating a mood board and going through different design iterations, the theme of “Rhinestone Cowboy” was established.
Solution:

Action Toolkits for Businesses and Individuals
Task:
I was tasked with creating “Action Toolkits” for both local SLO businesses and individuals to be dispersed in person and online. Two posters for each theme were required. There were various themes and content already set out, but the creative process was all up to me.
Concept:
Because these toolkits were to be dispersed to local storefronts and businesses, I needed to create a universal look that would make people stop and read. As a poster, it was especially important for me to pay attention to point size of the type and readability. I also added links to the content for the online version. I decided to incorporate the Chamber’s branding guidelines for their economic vision “Imagine SLO” for pops of color and a checklist or timeline layout.
Solution:

Social Media
Created content, responded to engagement, and tracked analytics for Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Utilized a calendar to plan out content and post cross platform. Identified reach, likes, and comments as key performance indicators and tracked analytics to create better content.

Working Lunch Podcast and Conversation
Task:
During the early months of COVID, when many people were first adjusting to working from home, the Chamber wanted to start a lunch time conversation that encouraged community members to pick up takeout from a local restaurant. I was given creative freedom in the design but wanted the stay within the Chamber’s branding.
Concept:
After going through many iterations, I decided on a laptop screen and takeout food container. Other iterations included a brown lunch bag, microphone, and phone screen. These final icons were very relevant for the time.
Solution:

COVID Resources
Task:
Throughout the beginning of the pandemic, many business turned to the Chamber for advice and resources to help them stay afloat and up to date. We needed a new webpage and graphics for all the resources.
Concept:
I kept with the Chamber’s branding guidelines, but wanted to add more of a visual factor. I decided to create different icons for each category, which were then resized to be Instagram highlight covers as well.
Solution:

Logos and Icons
Task:
I was asked to create new icons, or logos, for various Chamber events and series. This included Good Morning SLO (a monthly speaker series), Take Out Tuesday, Wine Wednesday, and Small Business Saturday.
Concept:
I decided to create circular logos for these series to also be used as Instagram highlight covers. For Good Morning SLO, I envisioned a sunrise above the well known mountains. For the daily series, I wanted a consistent design that was easily understood from the graphics. All of these logos would also later be used as the intro for their coinciding IGTV videos.
