Graphic Communication and Design Reproduction Technology Course Work

Design Reproduction Technology focuses on "graphic thinking" and understanding the principles of design and technology as they relate to advertising and publication production, packaging, commercial printing, and other media. Additionally, the focus is on manipulating designs through the use of digital cameras and scanners and preparing designs for print or web using the latest trends and computer applications. The design technologist also understands the technical limitations and production requirements for print and non-print production and distribution.

Advanced Digital Typography

Studied advanced typographic principles relating to print and electronic media. Page layout and font management with consideration for electronic media. Applied problems focusing on typographic design, typographic application and file preparation, including web typography and eBook creation.

Web Design and Development

I decided to use this class assignment as a way to enhance my portfolio and digitize it. As a senior, I feel that it is important for me to be as prepared as I can for future job opportunities, which I hope includes utilizing my design portfolio.

I started with brand guidelines, site map, and wireframes. I then created mock ups for both desktop and mobile layouts. I went through different iterations and eventually produced this portfolio website.

The final design is a reflection of my personal design work and aesthetic: feminine and bold. I consider myself a vibrant person and I love to use pops of consistent color throughout my work. My personal logo design is a play on the word “sparks” with a sparkly star included with my name.
